Financial Results
2025 consolidated sales, including all Calgary Co-op lines of business and subsidiaries totaled $1.55 billion compared to $1.48 billion in 2024, driven by topline growth from the full year operation of Care Pharmacies. Calgary Co-op continues to invest in its core assets with $70 million spent in fiscal 2025 and $170 million over the last three years. Half of that, or $85 million, was dedicated to key investments including the redevelopment of the Oakridge Food store and third-party tenant building, and the newly opened Cochrane retail pad. Calgary Co-op’s forecast for 2026 consolidated sales is $1.6 billion.
The Board of Directors approved the payment of patronage returns in the amount of $16.9 million in 2025. The portion of the patronage returns paid in cash was $15.2 million with $1.7 million paid in shares. The 2025 patronage does not include $6.7 million in Bonus Cash earned by Calgary Co-op members with the app. The Board also noted with satisfaction the adoption of the two non-binding shareholder proposals approved at the previous year’s AGM.
Calgary Co-op maintained its patronage rates from the previous year and paid its members 4 cents per litre in fuel, plus an additional, instant two cents per litre in Calgary Co-op Bonus Cash. In addition, members earned 3% on all pharmacy and home health care purchases, and 1% on all eligible retail purchases across its food, Wine Spirits Beer, convenience store and cannabis lines of business.
Complete financial results are included in the 2025 Annual Report, which is available at https://www.calgarycoop.com/about-us/annual-reports.
Positioned for the Future
From the redevelopment of its Oakridge and North Hill locations to the opening of its Cochrane store, the addition of Community Natural Foods, Wine Spirits Beer and Cannabis stores in Seton, and the planned new location in Marda Loop, Calgary Co-op is undergoing a significant period of transformation.
A key component of this evolution is the search for a permanent Chief Executive Officer. Calgary Co-op is very close to naming its new CEO and looks forward to making that announcement soon.
As part of its ongoing transformation, Calgary Co-op is advancing a focused growth strategy aimed at strengthening its leadership in fuel and pharmacy, while accelerating private brand development and locally driven expansion. Central to this strategy is a strong commitment to its people, both members and team members, through investment in employee development and a continued focus on meaningful member engagement. These efforts are supported by the development of a comprehensive three- to five-year, member-focused roadmap designed to drive sustained success and deliver lasting community impact.
Calgary Co-op remains deeply committed to advancing food security and supporting vulnerable populations through its member-driven giving initiatives. In 2025, on behalf of its members, the organization contributed more than 1.19 million pounds of food and $1.85 million to local charities and community partners. Further reinforcing its role as a community leader, Calgary Co-op proudly supports local producers by offering more than 2,400 locally sourced products from over 300 vendors across its stores, underscoring its dedication to strengthening the local economy and enhancing its assortment with locally made goods.
