When you think of Canadian cheese, Ontario and Quebec probably come to mind first. This October, we are shining a spotlight on the incredible cheeses from Western Canada. From Vancouver Island to Manitoba, the West is packed with amazing artisanal cheeses waiting to be discovered.

Meet the Makers

British Columbia:

  • Natural Pastures in Comox, BC offers a delicious range made from both cow and water buffalo milk. Their cheeses come in a variety of tasty styles, from creamy to firm.

Alberta:

  • Alberta Pike, Sylvan Star, Noble Meadows, Old School Cheesery, and Chinook Cheese deliver everything from Cheddar and Gouda to Halloumi and goat cheeses. Each brings its own unique flavour to the table.

Manitoba:

  • Bothwell in New Bothwell, MB has long been a customer favourite for their creamy cheddars and flavoured Monterey Jack cheeses.

Pairing Inspiration

  • Try Noble Meadows Goat Cheese with an off-dry Chardonnay for a perfectly balanced tasting experience.
  • Prefer beer? Pair an Alberta Pike Gouda with a classic Pale Ale for a treat for the senses.
