Calgary Co-op is one of North America’s largest member-owned, locally operated retail cooperatives, governed by a member-elected Board of Directors.
Each fall, Calgary Co-op invites its Member-Owners to stand for election to the Board of Directors. All who meet the qualifying criteria may go forward on the election ballot in the new year.
Our Board has nine directors and this year, five seats are up for election; three seats are available for a three-year term and two seats are available for a one-year term. As a Calgary Co-op Member-Owner, you may vote for up to five nominees. Directors are elected based on the number of votes received, from highest to lowest, until all positions are filled. Nominees in 4th and 5th place will be elected for the one-year term.
The nomination and election process helps our Calgary Co-op achieve strong and balanced leadership with the right mix of skills, experience and attributes.
When you’re ready to cast your vote, click any of the Vote Now buttons on the screen, and you will be redirected to a secure voting site where you will be asked to enter your Calgary Co-op membership number, postal code, and name. To be eligible to vote this year, you must be an active member as of November 1, 2025.

As a Calgary Co-op Member-Owner, you may vote in the Director Election each year. We all play an important role in electing members to our Board because a great Board is needed to oversee our growing $1.5 billion co-operative. Together as Members, we make the final decision about who is elected.
The results of the 2026 Director Election will be announced at the AGM on April 23, 2026, then on the website on April 24, 2026.
The Calgary Co-op Board wants to ensure its Directors have the competencies required to provide effective oversight of our complex co-operative. Therefore, the Board reviews its skills and identifies areas where knowledge gaps exist. The Board uses the gaps as a foundation for the skills it seeks from nominees running in the election.
“Recommended” candidates are those individuals who, after a thorough and independent review process, were assessed as having the best match of competencies that will further strengthen our Board. We use an independent consultant to create a fair and objective process.
