Tomato Caper 2 Contest

Official Rules and Regulations

The Calgary Co-op “Tomato Caper 2" (the “Contest”) is intended to be conducted in Canada only and shall be construed and evaluated according to applicable Canadian law. No purchase necessary. The Contest is open Alberta residents only and participants must be the age of majority or older in the province of Alberta at the time of entry. Void in whole or in part where prohibited by law. Entry in this Contest constitutes acceptance of these contest rules (the “Contest Rules”).


A) Entrants must be 18 years of age or older, must reside in Alberta, and be a member of Calgary Co-op.

B) Employees of Calgary Co-operative Association Limited (“Calgary Co-op”) and its wholly owned subsidiaries, co-sponsors, representatives, agents and their immediate families and people whom they live, are not eligible to enter.

C) No purchase is necessary. If a non-member chooses to enter, they may do so by submitting an essay no longer than 500 words describing why they should win the contest.

D) Entries that are mutilated, tampered with or illegible are considered void. Calgary Co-op has the final decision regarding eligibility of entries.

E) Calgary Co-op shall have the right at any time to require proof of identity and/or eligibility to participate in the Contest. Failure to provide such proof may result in disqualification. All personal and other information requested by and supplied to Calgary Co-op for the purpose of the Contest must be truthful, complete, accurate and in no way misleading. Calgary Co-op reserves the right, in their sole discretion; to disqualify any entrant should such an entrant at any stage supply untruthful, incomplete, inaccurate or misleading personal details and/or information.

F) This Contest is subject to the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada as may be applicable.


A) The Contest begins at 12:01 p.m. Mountain Standard Time (“MST”) on Monday March 2, 2020 and ends at 11:59 p.m. MST on Thursday April 10, 2020 (the “Contest Period”) after which time the Contest will be closed.


A) The prize available to be won in conjunction with this Contest includes:

  • Round trip transportation from the winner’s residence to Paradise Hill Farm in Nanton, providing the winner resides in Calgary, Airdrie, Okotoks, High River, Cochrane or Strathmore. Winners outside of the city limits of these areas will be responsible for travel to a gathering place in one of these areas for transportation.
  • The prize duration is approximately 5 hours in length, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This includes a three-hour experience at the farm and two hours of transportation time.
  • A tour of the greenhouse facility, hands-on experience harvesting and packing tomatoes, and enjoying a lunch jointly prepared with Paradise Hill Farm, Julie Van Rosendaal, and Co-op employees.
  • A gift pack.
  • The prize will take place on Saturday May 2. In the event of circumstances beyond our control, the alternate prize date is Saturday May 9, 2020.

B) Entrants will enter through, or by submitting an essay no longer than 500 words describing why they should win the contest to: Tomato Caper 2, c/o Member Relations, Calgary Co-operative Association Ltd.  #110, 151 -86 Ave. S.E. Calgary, Alberta T2H 3A5.     

C) Qualified entries will consist of one entry in the Contest per day. Consumers may enter the contest each day the contest runs.

D) Limit of one (1) entry, per email or written submission daily.


  • One prize will be awarded to the winner, who can select up to seven (7) people to participate, for a total of eight (8) participants.

The prize will be awarded on April 13, 2020.

1. All prizes must be accepted as awarded. They are non-transferable and have no cash value.

2. Odds of winning dependent on the number of entries received and the number of prizes left to be awarded.

3. The Prize Winner will be contacted on April 13. They will have until midnight April 13 to respond. Failure to claim the prize within the allotted time period may result in your disqualification and forfeiture of all rights to the Prize (in the Calgary Co-op’s sole discretion).

5.  The prizes must be accepted as awarded and cannot be transferred, assigned, substituted or redeemed for cash, except at the sole discretion of Calgary Co-op.
        I) Any unused portion of a prize will be forfeited and have no cash value.

2) Calgary Co-op reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if a prize (or any portion thereof) cannot be awarded for any reason.


A) Calgary Co-op and its promotional partners reserve the right to use any contestant’s voice or image likeness in promotional material surrounding the contest.

B) Calgary Co-op will use the entrant's personal Information only for identified purposes, and protect the entrant’s personal Information in a manner that is consistent with the Privacy Policy located at


A) Calgary Co-op assumes no responsibility or liability for lost, late, unintelligible/illegible, falsified, damaged, misdirected or incomplete entries, notifications, responses, replies or any release, or for any computer, online, software, telephone, hardware or technical malfunctions that may occur, including but not limited to malfunctions that may affect the transmission or non-transmission of an entry. Calgary Co-op is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the contest or by any technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the contest. Calgary Co-op assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. Calgary Co-op is not responsible for any problems, failures or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, providers, computer equipment, software, e-mail, players, or browsers, on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet, at any website, or on account of any combination of the foregoing. Calgary Co-op is not responsible for any injury or damage to entrant or to any computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in this contest. Entrant assumes liability for injuries caused or claimed to be caused by participating in the contest, or by the acceptance, possession, use of, or failure to receive any prize. Calgary Co-op assumes no responsibility or liability in the event that the contest cannot be conducted as planned for any reason, including those reasons beyond the control of the Calgary Co-op, such as infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or corruption of the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this contest, the contest website and/or

B) Calgary Co-op reserves the right to end the Contest, or amend the Official Rules at any point during the Contest.

C) By entering this Contest, entrants acknowledge these Official Rules and agree to abide by them.

D) All Prize Winners are required to sign a Calgary Co-op Prize Disclaimer form.
