Make It Tonight: Spolumbo's Breakfast Sausages & Bangers

Nobody can deny that breakfast is one of the best parts of the day, and one of the most delicious options available to us is Spolumbo’s sausage. Spolumbo’s sausage is super tasty and tender, thanks to the use of high quality meats, and just the right amount of spices. Thanks to those spices and herbs, sausage can be the star of the dish, and you can keep the rest of your meal or recipe simple if you want to.

Of course, you could just throw frozen patties in a pan and let them cook over the stove, and serve them with scrambled eggs, but although they are delicious, that isn’t as fun as what we’re cooking up! There are many different ways to jazz up sausage that will help you create tasty and memorable meals.

Pizza for breakfast, anyone? Sì, grazie! Roll out some crescent rolls and bake them until they’re golden brown before throwing on cooked sausage, scrambled eggs, cheese, onions, peppers, baby tomatoes or whatever else you want and baking it for a few more minutes - your options are limitless!

If you like muffins, make sausage and egg muffins. Cook the sausage and mix it into a mixture of eggs, milk, cheese, and muffin mix before baking it. You can’t go wrong with a classic sausage-hash brown either, which doesn’t require many ingredients but will turn into a beautifully browned mixture of sausage, eggs, hash browns, cheese, and - again - any other ingredients that strike your fancy.

Sausages also form the basis for a delicious appetizer or snack around the holidays: sausage rolls. Although you can buy them pre-made or frozen, sausage rolls are ultra easy to create at home, and best of all they let you customize them. Choose a premium sausage like Spolumbo’s, and use thawed puff pastry sheets cut into strips to wrap up whole sausages or slices. Add seasoning, cheese or even a jam or hot relish to the middle.

Add a spicy southwestern twist to sausage by using it in place of typical chicken or ground bee in a fajita. These Spolumbo's Banger Fajitas with Sautéed Peppers are a surefire weeknight hit!

Spolumbo’s Banger Fajitas


Wk5 Spolumbos Banger Fajitas blog1 package Spolumbo’s Bangers
2 cups Co-op Fajita Mix
1 cup sliced mushrooms
2 cloves garlic, chopped
3 tbsp oil
1 tsp chili powder
½ tsp cumin powder
1 cup Monterey Jack cheese
¼ cup sour cream
6-8 each flour tortillas 8”
6-8 lime wedges
¼ cup cilantro, picked
salt and pepper
Co-op Salsa
Co-op Guacamole
Hot Sauce


Pre-heat oven to 375°F.

Place the Bangers in a hot oven-safe sauté pan and put in the oven. Bake for 12 – 15 minutes, flipping half way through and cook until 155°F.

In a large sauté pan, heat oil until hot. Now add the Fajita mix, garlic and mushrooms. Sauté until tender and they start to develop some colour. Season with chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper.

Now remove sausages from the oven, let cool so you can handle them, and slice on the bias. Warm tortillas. To build place sausage on tortillas, top with Fajita Mix and garnish with sour cream, cheese, fresh squeezed lime and cilantro leaves. Enjoy with your favorite salsa, hot sauce and guacamole!
