The ketogenic diet, simply known as the keto diet, focuses on managing weight and certain conditions by eating fewer of those delicious carbohydrates we all love, and replacing them with fats. This way of eating is quite similar to the well-known Atkins diet. While the word diet often makes people think they’re being deprived of something, the keto diet is about adopting a healthier lifestyle. On the keto diet, there are actually endless options for snacks, appetizers, and recipes you can choose without sacrificing good taste and even a little holiday indulgence.
Whether you yourself are following the keto diet or one of your party guests is, there is no shortage of keto options that both taste delicious and stay within keto guidelines. Below are some good keto-friendly appetizers and snacks everyone can enjoy.
Bacon-Wrapped Brussels Sprouts
Bacon-wrapped brussels sprouts are some of the easiest snacks to make and the entire party, including the kids who don’t like veggies, will enjoy them.
You just need about a pound of fresh brussels sprouts, a pound of uncooked bacon (turkey bacon is fine, too), and some toothpicks. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and then line a large baking sheet with foil. Rinse all of the brussels sprouts with cool water and gently dry them with a paper towel. Wrap a third to a half a strip of bacon around each brussels sprout (depending on their size), and use a toothpick to hold it in place. Spread the wrapped brussels sprouts around the baking sheet and bake in the oven for about 30 minutes. That’s it!
Devilled eggs can be a hit at any party throughout the year, and the great news is that they are usually already keto-friendly. After you have hard-boiled 12 large eggs, slice them in half lengthwise. Pop the yolks into a bowl and stir them together with other keto-friendly ingredients such as an approved mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, salt, green onion, and whatever else works for you. Spoon or pipe the concoction into the egg whites, and they’re ready to serve. Overall, this is a great option for an easy-to-make appetizer and you can edit the recipe to fit your preferences.
Smoked Salmon Cucumber Bites
Tasty, smoky and flavourful, smoked salmon cucumber bites are always a party hit.
In a bowl, pour 1 cup of either fat-free Greek yogurt or softened whipped cream cheese and whisk together with 2 tablespoons of fresh dill and half a teaspoon of garlic salt. Slice two cucumbers into fat slices, deep enough to let you use a melon baller to scoop out a small divot to hold your filling. Top each cucumber scoop with the cheese mixture before topping all of them with a small piece or roll of smoked salmon. These bites great because they are quick, easy, don’t require the stove or oven, and they look elegant. If you don’t like cucumber, zucchini can be substituted.
Parmesan Italian Meatballs
Who doesn’t like meatballs, especially when they’re baked with cheese? Meatballs are sure to be a hit at your gathering, and they don’t require much work.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a 15x10 inch baking sheet with foil. Combine 1 pound of ground beef, 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley, ⅓ cup parmesan cheese, ¼ cup almond flour, 1 egg, 1 teaspoon of kosher salt, and ¼ cup of warm water. Then add a pinch of black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried oregano leaves, and stir it all together.
Form 2-inch meatballs and bake on the baking sheet for 20 minutes. When they’re done, move the meatballs into a casserole dish and pour one cup of marinara sauce or your favourite jarred antipasto and one cup of shredded whole milk mozzarella cheese over them. Bake for another 20 minutes or so. These can be kept warm in a crock pot once finished. These are saucy, cheesy, and meaty without having all of the carbs. Of course, you can edit the ingredients as needed or preferred.

Charcuterie boards are favourite at gatherings, and the best part about them is they don’t take forever to make and they are customizable to you or your guests’ tastes. Plus you can add broccoli, and baby tomatoes to your board along with nuts such as almonds and pecans. Keto-friendly crackers and hummus can also be included on your elegant charcuterie board.
