As the days become shorter and the evenings cooler, there’s a certain crisp magic in the air — you can just feel it now. I know we should never pick favourites, but I have to say that I’m particularly fond of this time of year (shhhh, don’t tell summer!). It’s harvest time, the season of pickling, canning, hearty soups and scrumptious stews.
And of course, fall means the Thanksgiving holidays! The large gatherings — and these days the smaller gatherings, even the virtual gatherings and the food gift drop-offs. They’re all awesome, and it’s time to start spreading the joy. For me that joy starts in the kitchen.
For this Thanksgiving I’ve created two delicious recipes for your table. The first is a holiday cranberry sauce; trust me you’ll never (and I do mean NEVER) open another can of cranberry sauce again once you make this recipe. It’s very simple and so delicious. The second recipe is to accompany your turkey, chicken or favourite roast. Founders & Farmers Brie Broccoli Chorizo sausage bacon stuffing. That’s right: Founders & Farmers brie cheese combined with broccoli, bacon and chorizo sausage in a baked stuffing. This combination is heavenly delicious. Add these recipes to your holiday table now and you’ll be on Santa’s good list later.
Thanksgiving is a time for reflection and a time to be grateful for what we have. There are many things for which I am thankful — friends, family, and of course the best little sidekick ever, my dog Momo. I’m also thankful for Calgary Co-op. I love supporting businesses that support local farmers and producers. The secret to any delicious dish is the quality of the ingredients, and quality is always first at Calgary Co-op. It always makes for a happy and creative kitchen at my house, and it will at yours, too.
