Preparing Flavour Lock Pot Roasts

Here are a few tips for delicious pot roasts:

  • Brown the roast in a lightly oiled Dutch oven or stockpot over medium high heat.
  • Pour in 1 or 2 cups of liquid, like soup, broth, canned tomatoes or red wine (depending on the recipe). Makes for a moist flavourful roast.
  • Cook for the right length of time depending your meat thermometer. Could be on the stove top (covered and simmering) in the oven (at 325°F or 160°C) or in slow cooker.
  • Add in vegetables like carrots and potatoes for the final 45 minutes.
