In a large bowl cream together butter and brown sugar until very smooth, blend in vanilla.
Sift together all the dry ingredients, blend slowly with the creamed mixture until soft dough forms. Split dough into two equal balls, wrap with plastic wrap and chill in fridge for 2-3 hours.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
Roll dough out to ½ inch balls on lightly floured surface. Press firmly with cookie stamp or roll with festive rolling pin.
Cut out cookies using a 2 inch circle or any shape you desire.
Place back in the freezer for 20 more minutes or longer. This will prevent the cookies from spreading.
Place on cookie sheet ½ inch apart and bake for 15–20 minutes.
