2021 Business and Financial Update

You’re local, we’re local. And we’re all in this together. We like to say that we are “Together for Good”.

2021 marked Calgary Co-op’s 65-anniversary and we celebrated with many exciting accomplishments including:

- Opening a new Food Centre in Sage Hill.

- Growing our Private Brands line to over 980 products.

- Bringing back Full Service at our gas stations.

- Expanding our online shopping program and curbside pickup services.

- Donating on behalf of our members, $2.7 million to our community partners.

As our province begins to open back up, our commitment to service, value and our community is greater than ever. We encourage you to visit your local Calgary Co-op store, see what is new, visit our deli, bakery, produce section and meat counter and enjoy all that your local store has to offer.

Whether you’ve been a Calgary Co-op member for 65 years, or have just joined, we thank you for your support, and look forward to embarking on many more successful years together.

2020 Business and Financial Update

You’re local, we’re local. And we’re all in this together. We like to say that we are “Together for Good”.

The past year was one like no other. Together, we have been navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring the safety and comfort of our team members, members and the community as a whole.

Last spring, we quickly implemented programs like our Calgary Co-op Champions program, which offered increased wages to our frontline staff at the onset of the pandemic and delivered more than 2,800 care packages to those in need through our Calgary Co-op Cares program.

Together, with the generosity of our members, we contributed $2.2 million in food and funds to local organizations to address food security.

Today, we’re proud to be supporting the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine at fourteen of our pharmacy locations.

On the business front, we created a new flyer and launched two new private brands, Cal & Gary’s™ and Founders & Farmers™. We hope our famous “Calgaryisms” on the Cal & Gary’s packaging have given you a smile, when you needed it the most.

We know this year has been challenging for everyone, but we couldn’t be more proud of  what we have accomplished together. “Together for Good” isn’t just something we say, it’s something we do, each and every day.

2019 Business and Financial Update

You’re local and so are we. Local is our thing. And together, we’ve done great things over the past year.

These days, it seems every grocery store claims to be “local.” Calgary Co-op’s roots go back to Alberta’s farmers and ranchers and our first food store that opened in 1956. You could say that Calgary Co-op was here before local was even a thing.

As a member-owner of Calgary Co-op you’ve supported local producers and local jobs. You’ve helped investment stay in the Calgary area, and helped your neighbours through local charities and community organizations.

We’ve honoured our tradition of providing you with a local, independent shopping alternative. As a member-owned and locally operated co-operative, we’re always evolving to meet the changing needs of our community and respond to market and economic forces. We owe it to our members to ensure the businesses we operate remain profitable and provide a return through the annual member refund each year.
