Tastes for Calgarians: Calgary Co-op unveils Founders & Farmers, Cal & Gary’s as newest exclusive labels on store shelves

Calgary Co-op makes supporting local easy, with close to 2,000 local products under one roof

CALGARY – September 17, 2020 – Visitors to Calgary Co-op will be seeing some new additions to their store shelves. In addition to the nearly 2,000 local Calgary products now available in-store, Calgary Co-op today officially launched two new exclusive labels: Cal & Gary’s and Founders & Farmers.

To date, there are close to 650 exclusive label products available at Calgary Co-op, with new products being added weekly.

“We’ve been serving the Calgary community for more than 60 years, so we know the value of supporting local producers while providing the best quality products to Calgarians,” says Ken Keelor, CEO of Calgary Co-op. “We also know that when it comes to taste, Calgarians enjoy variety. Our two new labels have been curated for the tastes and preferences of our city.”

Founders & Farmers takes shoppers back to the foundation Calgary Co-op was built on: a few folks who simply saw a better way to serve their friends and family. The Founders & Farmers brand stands for value, quality and variety, providing shoppers the confidence they are putting great products in their pantry, fridge or freezer.

Further, by building a strong relationship with Calgary businesses, many of whom have been challenged by the current pandemic, Calgarians have more options to shop local at Calgary Co-op. Says Louis Bontorin, Owner of Calgary Italian Bakery, “Calgary Italian Bakery Ltd was founded in 1962, only 6 years after Calgary Coop was founded. My parents Luigi and Myrl Bontorin were fiercely Calgarian. We purchase local whenever possible and believe in local first. Supporting the local economy is more important now more than ever, and we are grateful that it is part of Calgary Co-op’s DNA.”
