July 5, 2019 - Calgary, Alberta - Bringing the ultimate in food shopping and dining convenience to our city, Calgary Co-op is pleased to announce the addition of Spolumbo’s Fine Foods & Deli and Cluck ‘N’ Cleaver to our West Springs Co-op location.
“By partnering with these local businesses we are able to further provide convenience and unique offerings to our members and the community and celebrate our collective entrepreneurial roots,” says Penney McTaggart Cowan, V.P. Marketing and Member Experiences, Calgary Co-op.
The store within a store format is new to Calgary Co-op, but with its passion for local and its entrepreneurial spirit, this partnership is a match made in food heaven.
“Spolumbo’s shares and lives by many of the same corporate values that we see at Calgary Co-op; high quality fresh products, support and encouragement for local business, a general nurturing and nourishment of our communities. We’ve built an exceptional partnership over the years together based on these shared commitments. Our newest kiosk project in West Springs is the next example of that, bringing our familiar Spolumbo’s experience to the city’s west edge so that Co-op customers in that area can access us without having to cross town,” says Remo Trotta, Sales and Marketing Manager, Spolumbo’s Fine Foods & Deli.
This new partnership enables these local businesses to expand in a collaborative and cost-effective manner, with Calgary Co-op’s support including competitive leasing terms and a shared desire to promote local food and producers. Calgary Co-op is evaluating the shared space business model for planned redevelopments at its Oakridge, Dalhousie and North Hill food stores and for the construction of a new food store at Sage Hill.
"Working in partnership with Co-op to establish a Cluck ´N’ Cleaver in their West Springs store is a great opportunity for our team to grow. We're so excited to bring our made-from-scratch, local, delicious rotisserie and fried chicken to west end customers who are looking for convenience and a great, well-prepared meal," says Francine Gomes, Co-Owner, Cluck ‘N’ Cleaver.
The Grand Opening of these locations will be celebrated in conjunction with Calgary Co-op West Springs’ Stampede Breakfast on:
When: Monday July 8, 2019 8:30am -10:30am
Where: West Springs Calgary Co-op: 100, 917-85 Street S.W.
