November 4, 2016 Calgary, Alberta – Calgary Co-op is celebrating its 60th anniversary with the opening of its new food store, gas bar and wine, spirits and beer locations in Auburn Bay.

“The opening of our Auburn Bay Centre has much more significance than simply the addition of one new location for Calgary Co-op,” says Ken Keelor, CEO. “It represents new jobs for the community, new offerings for our members and a new alternative for customers who are looking for something different.”

Calgary Co-op’s new Auburn Bay Centre includes a 40,000 square foot food store, a 2,600 square foot gas bar and a 4,800 square foot wine, spirits and beer location. Over 50 per cent of the people employed at these locations are new employees of Calgary Co-op.

The food store reflects a new design with vibrant colours, natural light and energy efficiencies, including covered refrigeration units, LED lighting and smart building automation.

Their focus on delivering exceptional customer experiences is evident in many of the enhanced offerings including full service meat and seafood cases, an in store made juice program, a grab and go hot curry bar, and products from over 200 local growers and producers.

The pharmacy features a new layout providing greater access to professional services and a streamlined prescription process. Members shopping at this location will have access to a prescribing Pharmacist, a certified Diabetes Educator, and certified Tobacco Reduction Services.

The gas bar offers 12 fueling stations and diesel at every pump, with double the Revved Up Rewards grocery savings coupons until December 3.

Co-op Wine Spirits Beer offers a variety unparalleled in this community with 1,000 wines, 370 spirits including 170 whiskies and 600 varieties of beer from around the world. Members will enjoy the opportunity to sample with weekend tastings happening until the end of this year.
