ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES
Beaches
Stroll across soft sands and gaze across the clear blue waters of the Pacific. Huatulco's beaches are stunning! Many include bars and restaurants, so you can spend time sunbathing, swimming and snorkeling, as well as enjoying a delicious variety of foods and beverages. Check your guidebook for beach locations and attractions.
Water Sports
Snorkeling is the main attraction around Huatulco; snorkeling equipment is available for rent locally. River rafting is also a popular sport in this part of Mexico.
Local Cruises
I would highly recommend a shoreline cruise. Bays and beaches are a key attraction in Huatulco, and there's no better way to see them. Cruises include stops at preferred swimming and snorkeling spots; some stop at local beaches for lunches featuring freshly caught fish and seafood. Get cruise information at your hotel or at the port in La Crucecita or Santa Cruz. You can take a commercial tour on a large boat, or hire a small boat and boatman privately by the day or by the hour, so you can go where you want at your own pace.
Adventure and Eco Tours
Huatulco is a great place to go if you're looking for an authentic adventure tour. The region offers rich and varied topography, scenic areas of natural beauty, and facilities that make adventure holidays an absolutely stunning experience. The surrounding mountains and jungle also make Huatulco an ideal home base for ecological touring. New tours are constantly being added; check your hotel for the latest offerings.
Night Life
Although much less developed than its closest resort neighbor, Acapulco, Huatulco does offer places to party and dance until the sun comes up. New venues are appearing all time.
Shopping
In addition to shops selling tourist items and souvenirs, you'll find markets in Santa Cruz and Crucecita. Markets offer an opportunity to buy locally made arts and crafts, including traditional clothes and the region's famous black clay pottery.Walking
There are many areas to explore while walking the beaches or strolling the wide sidewalks between the three towns in the area.
Neighbouring Attractions
Once the high-speed road between Huatulco and Oaxaca opens, travellers will have convenient access to the magnificent colonial city of Oaxaca and the archaeological parks of Monte Alban and Mitla. The new road will also open up fresh opportunities for nature and adventure tours.
