Heart Health Clinics

When was the last time you had any cardiovascular testing beyond your annual check-up and blood work?

Calgary Co-op pharmacies are holding Heart Health Assessment Clinics from September 4 through October 5, 2012.

You are invited to book a one-on-one 40 minute appointment including a 20 minute appointment for a CardioVision screening followed by a 5 to 20 minute consultation with a pharmacist.

Visit or phone any Calgary Co-op pharmacy to book your appointment.

There is a nominal fee of $15 for the clinic booking, payable in person or by credit card over the telephone.

All participants will be provided with:

• A one-on-one consultation with a Co-op pharmacist
• Cardiovision Heart Health screening
• Better Health Hypertension program enrollment
• A subscription to Caring for the Heart newsletter

 

 

CardioVision Heart Health Screening

The CardioVision screening equipment is used in private clinics and wellness centres. This non-invasive cardio test uses oscilliometric pulse technology to measure arterial stiffness. You will receive a computerized screening, printed report and the assessment results will be explained to you. The pharmacist will review information to discuss with your doctor. Your doctor can then determine if further testing is necessary.

  • Intermediate/Clinical Quality Screening Test
  • CardioVision identifies people who don’t even think they have a cardiovascular problem because they are non-smokers, exercise regularly and watch their diet.
  • Measures blood pressure, pulse rate and Arterial Stiffness Index (ASI). The ASI measures and calculates the stiffness or flexibility of the brachial (arm) artery which has been shown to correlate with the stiffness of the other arteries. Interpretation of the ASI with other risk factors can be an indication of risk for coronary artery disease.
  • As a screening device it non-invasively indicates whether further testing may be required.
