Calgary Co-op Whole Health Challenge with the Calgary Weight Management Centre.
Our Challenge includes a number of interesting and exciting special events throughout the 12 week program, which you can sign up to attend at your discretion. These include motivational talks by John Stanton, the founder of The Running Room, and Rich Hesketh, the strength and conditioning coach of the Calgary Flames. If you want to quit smoking, you can check out our public forum on smoking cessation.
There’s more, these are just a few ideas of what you can partake in just by participating in the Calgary Co-op Whole Health Challenge.
Information about these and other special events is provided in your Whole Health Challenge Progress Chart, along with vouchers for each event that you will need to bring with you to your selected Calgary Co-op Pharmacy location when you sign up to attend an event. Space is limited at these events, so sign up early!
Also, to help make shopping a little healthier and easier, you will find Whole Health Challenge stickers on certain products throughout Calgary Co-op Food Centres which Calgary Weight Management Centre dietitians recommend as healthy choices. There are also coupons for some of these products available in your package! Every two weeks when you hand in your mini challenge you will receive more great coupons.
Our goal is to help you make choices that can set you on a healthier path for life. The most important advice we can give you is to think long-term. Think of this 12 week program as the beginning of a gradual and very rewarding journey to a healthier you.
Incentives
To provide you with an incentive to join and complete our Challenge, participants have the chance to win some pretty amazing prizes at the end of the program. So let’s talk about what you need to do to be eligible for a chance to win those prizes.
To qualify for prizes, you must complete three (3) required tasks as part of the Challenge:
• A pre and post “Self Assessment” completed in week 1 (pre) and week 12 (post). The first assessment form called “What’s Your Baseline?”, provided by the Calgary Weight Management Centre is included in your package. It must be returned to the Pharmacy to receive your first Health Letter and mini challenge. You will receive the second assessment form from your Calgary Co-op Pharmacy later in the program.
• Six (6) mini-challenges to be completed every two (2) weeks. You will need to submit each completed mini-challenge to the Calgary Co-op Pharmacy location that you selected to participate. You will also need to bring your Progress Chart with you so a Calgary Co-op pharmacist can initial your form as having completed the mini-challenge and provide you with the next mini- challenge.
• As your sixth and final challenge you will be asked to submit a one-page Personal Reflection of your 12 week journey. Your Personal Reflection should tell us how you did throughout the Challenge and your successes; you can include information such as any obstacles you might have faced and how you overcame them to complete the challenge. Further details will be included in your final mini challenge Health Letter.
