Online Digital Printing FAQs

Q: How long will the upload take?

A: Depending in the way you connect to the internet. If you have a high speed connection (DSL, Cable) the time will be very short. If you dial-up via the phone line it might take awhile

Q: What web browser should I use?

A: The online ordering page works best with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher. AOL users should connect via AOL then launch Internet Explorer from the Desktop Icon, Start Menu, or the Quick Launch bar.

Q: I cannot view the upload page or not able to upload images.

A: There are two major reasons you cannot upload photos via the Photogize upload page.

1. You did not install the Soft Artisans XFile program.

This program must be installed to upload files. You must click Yes when prompted with the Security Warning for the upload control installation.  If you don’t, the web page will not have the Add Files Button.  Click the Refresh Button on your Web Browser then select Yes when asked to install the SoftArtisans XFile program.  Then you will see the following screen with the Add and Remove Files buttons.

2. A Pop-Up blocker program is running. If one is, disable the Pop-Up Blocking function then refresh the browser. You may have to close the browser then re-open.

Q: How many pictures can I send?

A: On a Windows based computer, you can send 200 images at one time. On a Mac, 10.

Q: What type of files can I upload?

A: You can upload the following digital photo file types: JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg, .jpe), GIF (.gif), TIFF (.tif, .tiff), Windows Bitmap (.bmp), Targa (.tga), Portable Network Graphics (.png), Flashpix (.fpx), Exchangeable Image File or EXIF (.jpg), and Kodak Photo CD (.pcd).

On the ordering page pictures with a have enough pixels to make a very nice print at the size selected. A means your print may not come out very well.

Q: How do I set my digital camera to get the best results?

A: The best results require a larger image. This means you will get fewer pictures on your memory card. You will have to balance the image quality with the amount of images you want to get on the memory card. Usually one or two steps below the maximum setting will be a good balance. Consult your camera manual for these settings.

Q: Your not just using a fancy inkjet printer, are you?

A: All photographs are printed with a Noritsu digital mini-lab using Kodak Photographic paper and chemistry, just like your photos from regular film.

Q: Can I crop my photos online?

A: Not at this time, you will have to use your own editing software to crop the photo before sending it. Please remember to set your cropping tool to the size you want or you may not get the results you desire.

Q: When can I send pictures?

A: 24/7, though we will only work on your order during regular business hours.

Q: Is it safe?

A: Yes, we use a secure server for your ordering information. Always Check for the lock at the lower left of your web browser.

Q: When can we pick up our orders ?

A: After you complete your order you will receive an email stating when the order will be ready for pick up. Normal turnaround time for greeting cards, 4x6, and 5x7 are 2 days, prints larger then 8x10 are 5 days.

Q: How long will my pictures be online?

A: Once we complete your order the files are deleted from the system. If you use the "Share" option to forward images to someone else they will be stored on-line for thirty days. The only way to access the images is by ordering from the e-mail. Every time an order is placed it extends the on-line storage for an additional thirty days. If thirty days pass with no prints ordered the files are deleted.

Q: I have more questions, what can I do?

A: You can email us at calgary@dpslab.com with your questions.
