Sustainable Seafood

Seafood

Healthy choices equal healthy oceans.

We are committed to continually improving the sustainability of our seafood products.

In an effort to promote more sustainable choices, we will immediately delist Atlantic halibut, shark, skates, rays, blue marlin, Chilean sea bass, longline caught swordfish and orange roughy from our food centres.

SeaChoice

SeaChoice was formed by five internationally respected Canadian conservation organizations: Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, the David Suzuki Foundation, Ecology Action Centre, Living Oceans Society and Sierra Club British Columbia.

We have chosen to delist seafood which has been ranked as “Avoid” by SeaChoice due to population concerns, harm to endangered species and/or unsustainable fishing methods.

Sustainable Options

To replace delisted products, we are pleased to offer sustainable options including:

  • Arctic Char
  • Sablefish (a substitute for Chilean sea bass)
  • Country Morning MSC (Marine Stewardship Council)

We also offer fresh water species including steelhead trout and rainbow trout.
