Changes to the Co-op Senior Busing Service:

Due to the decrease in demand for the senior busing service, Calgary Co-op is replacing our busing program with a broader and long term partnership with the Calgary Seniors’ Resource Society (Calgary Seniors). The change is effective November 1st, 2016.

We understand this service is essential for some members, and want to assure you we remain committed to you. To ensure our members are able to continue to access the food and services they enjoy at our stores, and in fact expose you to a broader support service, Calgary Co-op has committed to partnering with the Calgary Seniors. Over the next three years we have committed both financial and marketing/communications support to Calgary Seniors. For your reference, Calgary Seniors provides two transportation programs available to seniors. Seniors need to be registered through Calgary Seniors and meet the program eligibility requirements.

Escorted shopping Seniors are matched with a volunteer who takes them shopping for groceries and other needed items every two weeks. Volunteers provide more than transportation by helping the senior as they shop and putting away their items when they return home. As well as offering critical transportation for the senior, the program also offers social support. These bi-weekly visits are looked forward to as a wonderful opportunity to spend time with a friend.

Escorted Transportation Volunteers provide seniors with round trip transportation to medical appointments. The senior pays a minimal gas recovery fee for every ride on a sliding scale based on income level. Calgary Seniors also offers additional seniors support services. For more information, please visit their website at or by phoning 403-266-6200.

Please note that Calgary Co-op will continue to offer free prescription delivery to any member requesting this service. Thank you for your interest and dedication to this program.

It has been an honour to provide this service to our most loyal customers.
