In 2003, we began an extensive energy management project at all of our locations by installing energy efficient equipment, coolers and lights. Work continues today.  We've implemented an awareness program with our employees to ensure lights are turned off, cooler doors are closed and other energy-savings initiatives are in place. We estimate a 20% reduction in energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions at our locations.  

Our, members who reuse their shopping bags while shopping in our food stores can receive a 3¢ credit per plastic bag that they can apply to their grocery purchase or donate to charity through our Bags to Riches program.

Our pharmacies are getting even greener with our new pill bottle recycling program. The first of its kind in Calgary, our pharmacies are not only helping you with your medical needs, they are helping the environment too. In partnership with Recycle @ Work, our pharmacies recycle thousands of pill bottles that otherwise go to the local landfill. Will it really make a difference? Yes! Each day, our pharmacies go through thousands of plastic pill bottles, so this is just one more way we are making headway in our efforts to protect the environment! And don't forget, we also offer a service to dispose of unused medications - just stop by one of pharmacies and deposit them in the designated sealed container - It's that easy!
