Making a Difference in our Community

Donations and Sponsorship

We are more than a store - we are an active participant in our community.

We serve and support the philanthropic goals of the Alberta's Promise Program. Acting with our employees, we support and contribute to local organizations that closely align with our values and strategy. Providing support to the Calgary Food Bank, Mustard Seed, the Calgary Zoo and numerous other charitable organizations, we endeavor to be an active participant in the communities we serve.

Donation Request Guidelines

While recognizing the growing needs of our community we realize that we cannot support every group or worthwhile cause. Each year, our Community Investment Management Committee identifies key areas of giving dependent on the needs of our community and social issues. Currently, Calgary Co-op supports children and their families, issues of health and wellness, poverty and education.

All requests over $25,000 are reviewed by the Community Investment Management Committee at regular quarterly meetings. Small requests for community-specific donations, that are not citywide are handled at your local Calgary Co-op centre. Each Calgary Co-op centre maintains a budget to support charitable and nonprofit organizations within their specific communities.

Guidelines:

We review each request as it applies to our Community Investment Program goals, areas for support and the following guidelines:

  • Groups must reside and be active in our trading area.
  • Preference will be given to registered charitable organizations and non profit organizations.
  • All requests must be submitted in writing.
