Calgary Co-op endeavors to be an active participant in the communities it serves, and supports the philanthropic goals of the Alberta's Promise Program, which encourages companies to support charities that benefit children and families.
Calgary Co-op provides financial, product and in-kind support to local charities, non-profits, associations and other organizations, including the Alberta Children's Hospital, Children's Cottage, Calgary Public Library, Calgary Drop-In Shelter, Mustard Seed, Calgary Inter-Faith Food Bank, Airdrie and Wheatland County food banks, Salvation Army, Canadian Legion and its annual Poppy Fund Drive, Kerby Centre, Meals on Wheels, Ronald McDonald House, Calgary police, fire and EMS, Calgary Zoo and many, many others.

Calgary Co-op Monday Night Skate for the Community
Enjoy skating? Like doing your part to make the world a little brighter? If so, Calgary Co-op has the perfect activity for you. Head to the Olympic Oval to give those blades a work out and help support the Calgary Interfaith Food Bank at the same time. Every Monday night*, starting September 8, 2008 until March 8, 2009, you can skate for free at the Oval during the Calgary Co-op Monday Night Skate for the Community. Best of all, it's free with the donation of a non-perishable food item to the food bank. Skate time is 6:30 pm to 8:10 pm. Bowling for Kids
In April, Calgary Co-op employees laced up their bowling shoes and bowled a strike for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Calgary. Calgary Co-op is the exclusive title sponsor of the Bowl for Kids event. In its 17th year, the event raises funds to support Big Brothers and Big Sisters - an organization that makes a huge difference in the life of a child. This year, the total donation from Calgary Co-op was $34,600! Of this, our employees raised a phenomental $14,600 in pledges. The Bowl for Kids event takes place between February and April of each year, and this year, raised a grand total of $272,000 from Calgarians who raised pledges and bowled their hearts out for this great organization.
Help the Hungry Food Drive
Thanks to the generosity of our members and customers, almost $50,000 was raised during our annual Help the Hungry Food Drive in partnership with Global Television held on June 7th. Our next food drive is in December. Watch for details closer to the event.
