Calgary Co-op Board of Directors Announces Board Officers for 2004

February 25, 2004, Calgary, Alberta - Calgary Co-operative Association Limited today announced the appointment of its board officers for the year 2004.

The board of directors has appointed Barry Ashton board chair, for a fourth consecutive term. Randy Kott, a long time board member and former chair of the board will serve as vice chair and Connie Rosenstein will serve as board secretary - a role she also held in 2002.

The Calgary Co-operative Association's board of directors is comprised of nine members elected by and from the members of Calgary Co-op. Also serving on the board are incumbent directors Johanna Bates, Stuart Cantrill and Peter Tarrant, and new board members Colleen Hillaby, Alex Ingram and Peter Stacey-Salmon.

"I am pleased to serve the board, our members and employees as chair for another year," says Ashton. "2004 brings a number of new challenges as the board and management look ahead to hiring and assisting a new chief executive officer adapt to a new role. In a marketplace that is undergoing rapid changes, I remain confident that our five year capital development program has placed Calgary Co-op in a strong position to meet both present and future challenges."

Construction is also underway or will commence in the near future on the new Midtown Market, Rocky Ridge and West Spring food centres, which will open in late 2004 and 2005 respectively.
