Calgary Co-op Opens Gas Bar in Heritage Towne CentreFebruary 26, 2003, Calgary, Alberta - The Calgary Co-operative Association Limited will celebrate the grand opening of its newest gas bar and convenience store facility in the new Heritage Towne Centre, 6 Heritage Gate SE, Calgary, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, February 27, at 9:00 a.m., at that location. Calgary Co-op's newest gas bar offers gas, diesel, and propane, including full and self-serve options for customers. There is also a 1,500 square foot convenience store and a state of the art laser car wash at this location. "We chose the new Heritage Towne Centre shopping complex as the site for our newest standalone gas bar because of its prime location and the retail potential this new shopping destination (which also includes a new Calgary Co-op liquor store), will offer people in nearby communities", says Milford Sorensen, chief executive officer of Calgary Co-op. Calgary Co-op has gas bars at most of its grocery store locations, as well as stand-alone gas bars in the Eastfield area of Calgary, and in Strathmore and Cochrane. Locally owned and operated, Calgary Co-op is one of the largest retail co-operatives in North America with annual sales of $730 million, $252 million in assets, 380,000 members and 3,500 employees. In addition to its head office in Calgary, Alberta, Calgary Co-op operates eighteen retail shopping centres in Calgary, Airdrie and Strathmore, Alberta.
