Environmental Achievement Award – 2003Calgary Co-op has another reason to be proud of its environmental program. On May 26, we were honored with the prestigious Environmental Achievement Award - Corporate 2003 during the Calgary Awards ceremony hosted by Mayor Bronnconnier and Alderman King at City Hall.
![]() L-R: Alderman Bob Hawksworth presents award to Rod Peterson, Elaine Smith and Doug Scott. This award recognizes individuals and companies for their involvement and commitment to community and the environment. Our receiving this award was possible because of the efforts and commitment of our employees and our Energy and Environmental Management committees. Together, employees have worked hard to develop and implement energy saving initiatives, such as installing new refrigeration units, in-store and outdoor lighting, reducing energy usage, and other strategies that are enabling Calgary Co-op to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by up to 20%. Calgary Co-op will continue to make environmental and energy management initiatives and programs a priority by increasing energy efficiency, improving our recycling programs and strengthening our conservation efforts. Congratulations to all Calgary Co-op employees for ensuring "A Greener World is in Our Hands."
